The “alloy” material for watch cases is usually diecast zinc alloy. I the presentation article, brass is mentioned, but this is a copper-zinc alloy many times stronger and many times more expensive than the run of the mill diecast zinc. In the past, watch cases were made out of nickel plated brass, but that was expensive for the low cost watches and the nickel causes allergies on some people. Polished and coated zinc is just fine but it is what it is: a low cost material on a low cost watch.
